Dear Parker,
A 7-ish minute short film written, directed, filmed, and edited by me, "Dear Parker" is the story of a young porch pirate thrown out of an unstable household by his adoptive mother. After unknowingly stealing an invaluable package, the young boy embarks on an adventure of highs and lows through the dodgy streets of Philadelphia to return it to its intended recipient. As the protagonist steps closer and closer to making a life-changing discovery, this film will explore hope, redemption, resilience, and the complexities of familial relationships. With an off-brand Hollywood aesthetic encapsulating the gritty ambiance of life in the city, the sound design for this film includes various found and recorded foley sounds, music, music distortion, and microphone audio for bits of dialogue.
I had an absolute blast doing all of the production and post-production for this film over a 4-day Thanksgiving Break; there is so much to be learned from constraints (time, weather, actor availability, and others)!
Special thanks to Samuel Lienau, Krista Lienau, Sue Wright, Patricia Haggenmiller, Brian from next door (hehe), and Okjah Han for dedicating their time to acting in this film and helping me bring my idea to life! Can't wait to go back and tweak some sound design, shots, and cuts when I have more time! For now, here is the first cut of "Dear Parker:"
